Mount Vernon Hospital

I know many local residents really appreciate the services that are available on the Mount Vernon Hospital site but we need to be honest with ourselves with how this site will function going forward. Many of the buildings are in a poor state of repair and I want to ensure the site has a place in our community for a long time to come.

In particular the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre is a hugely valued local service and I know there are now doubts over it's future. There is an ongoing review into the future of the service and changes are already starting to be made. I will be following this closely and want to ensure that we do not loose this crucial local cancer service as the review develops.

Meeting with the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre Team

This afternoon I was very pleased to be invited to visit the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre and to hear from the team and representatives from NHS England about the most up to date plans to reprovide the cancer services.

Mount Vernon Cancer Centre Update

I recently met with the team at NHS England who are leading on this project and I do understand the issues which are at play. There was previously a clinician led review of the site, and they made a number of recommendations for how the cancer centre needs to be running going forward.

A Busy Week Progressing Priorities

This week in the House of Commons Chamber I raised two questions with the Department for Health and Social Care’s ministerial team, which you can watch here.
