This afternoon, I met with the Hillingdon Hospitals Trust. The meeting was attended by resident association representatives, local councillors from Hillingdon and Harrow and Parliamentary colleagues.
I am extremely disappointed that the hospital management will continue to press ahead with the closure of the minor injuries unit, despite the clear and overwhelming local opposition to the plans. This was really highlighted in the meeting, as well as the lack of clear communication, which has contributed significantly to local frustration.
While there are proposals to open more primary hubs across the community, given that the unit is due to close at the end of this month, I remain concerned about the impact on patients in the interim of the closure and the roll-out of additional hubs.
However, I have secured a commitment from management to review the decision and to reverse it if there is a negative impact on the community. This accountability is incredibly important, and I will be following closely to ensure it is honoured.
I am grateful to resident association and local government representatives for attending, and Parliamentary colleagues, Gagan Mohindra and John McDonnell.
I am also incredibly grateful to residents from Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner and the surrounding areas for supporting the campaign and ensuring that the voices of our communities have been heard loud and clear.
