Those who have been following this campaign will be aware that I wrote to the Health Secretary in April and having received no response, wrote once again last month. With no reply almost a month later, I was forced to raise this unacceptable delay with the Deputy Speaker in the Chamber.
I have now received a disappointing response, not from the Health Secretary himself, but from the Health Minister. The letter fails to address the issue, scarcely mentioning Mount Vernon at all, and instead celebrates the Government's plans to 'improve' urgent care services, while at the same time closing down those exact services here. The irony speaks for itself.
A copy of the letter can be found below. Please be assured I will continue to act on residents' behalf to fight the closure of this vital service.
