Following hard-fought campaigns, I am delighted that Hillingdon and Harrow councils will remain under Conservative leadership, both with increased majorities. I extend a huge congratulations to newly and re-elected councillors, who I know will continue to work hard for residents across Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner.
The King’s Speech marked the start of the new parliamentary session in Westminster this month, though this was somewhat marred by the Labour Party’s continued internal drama.
Closer to home, I have been busy in the constituency, holding regular surgeries and making visits to local businesses, schools and healthcare providers.
It was a pleasure to be welcomed to Pinn River School in Eastcote. In my time as a Hillingdon councillor, I was involved in the planning to provide a new school for children with special educational needs and disabilities, and I am pleased to see the project successfully completed.
It was inspiring to see what headteacher Liz Edwards and her team have achieved. It is clear the children are very happy, and I welcome that more will be offered these fantastic opportunities as the school grows.
I am also grateful to the team at Nationwide in Pinner for showing me how their partnership with Dementia UK is helping constituents. Free, confidential appointments with admiral nurse Sarah were made available to residents affected by dementia.
This was the first of its kind to be held at the Pinner branch, and I know they are hoping for this to be a regular service for the community.
I also joined the Royal British Legion in Ruislip to mark the 15th anniversary of the end of Operation TELIC (the Iraq war). This has left a legacy, and it is important to honour the men and women who served our country.
