LINK

I know that residents and businesses will share my disappointment with the outcome of my recent campaign to establish a banking hub in Eastcote. I was therefore grateful for the opportunity to meet with Adam Wilkinson, Senior Public Affairs Manager at LINK, the body responsible for ensuring sufficient access to cash across our high streets.

While it was mostly a case of reiterating the points already made, it was also a chance to better understand the extent to which constituency-specific factors had been considered as part of their review process. For example, Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner has a significantly older population compared to other areas of London, which increases challenges around accessibility, as well as the use of telephone and internet banking. I was assured, however, that this had been taken into account.

Furthermore, I also raised anecdotal feedback I had received about issues with certain ATMS, limiting access to cash options. Residents who notice an ongoing problem have been advised to contact LINK here.

Finally, while it is welcome that Nationwide branches remain open on Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner high streets, there are limitations on their business banking provision. I was once again assured that this had been considered, which is why should HSBC on Ruislip High Street close, a new review would automatically take place.

I am keen to hear from both residents and businesses – wherever you are based in Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner – about your experiences with access to cash, business banking and the limitations of post office banking. If you would be willing to share your views with my office, please email [email protected]
