This afternoon, I caught up with Chief Superintendent Jill Horsfall and Superintendent Priya Shome from the West Area Borough Command Unit, which covers Hillingdon.
This was an opportunity to raise my concerns about Mayor Khan’s plans to close the front counter at Hayes Police Station, which comes two years after his broken promise to reopen Uxbridge Police Station during the Uxbridge & South Ruislip by-election. The closure will leave residents in Hillingdon having to travel to Acton or Hounslow if they want to access this service. This is unacceptable, and I will be supporting the council’s campaign to reverse this decision.
We also discussed how local police teams are tackling the crimes that are concerning residents, such as retail crime and anti-social behaviour, and I was pleased to hear that progress is being made.
I encourage residents to sign up to Met Engage using this link – this provides crime updates, but also the opportunity for residents to engage directly with local officers.
