The Labour Government’s decision to cut Winter Fuel Payments last year caused understandable concern for many constituents across Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner. Since the announcement, residents have registered their concerns with my office, with many attending surgeries to discuss their apprehension about the policy, such as Sue and David from Pinner (pictured).
After relentless campaigning alongside colleagues in the Conservative Party, the Prime Minister has announced a U-turn on the policy. While this is to be welcomed, it has left more questions than answers for local pensioners who have been met with further uncertainty over whether they will continue to be impacted this winter.
I will continue to support the Leader of the Opposition in holding the Labour Government to account and to ensure that the elderly in Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner get the certainty and support they need.
